Organizing your trading space can be tough. But you probably already guessed that if we are talking about it, right? We don’t talk about things which are easy here. The more serious you are taking the process of organizing your trading space, the faster it is going to pay off for you.
Here is what you absolutely must have in your trading space besides your computer.
1. Calendar and timetable.
2. Trading journal.
3. An alarm clock.
4. Printed trading strategies.
5. Earphones.
1. Calendar and timetable.
Of course with the possibility to set alerts and to write everything down into your phone, paper calendars where you make regular old-fashioned notes do not seem necessary. But still this option might prove to be way more comfortable.
What can you possibly write down in a calendar? News alerts, reports dues, and other things which are going to influence your trading. You can also write down the time when you need to start and finish your trading – this way your time table is always going to be in front of your eyes.
2. Trading journal.
We have talked about the importance of leading a ledger and the fact that it is supposed to be there right in front of your eyes is not supposed to surprise you at all. After all – history of your trading, all of the difficulties, ways you overcame them and results of every trade can proof more than useful every day.
Also – never throw out old ledgers. Keep all of them on the shelf somewhere. You never know what you are going to need and when.
3. An alarm clock.
Of course that is not the most obvious object that you can put in your trading space. But if you can prove me wrong and say that you do not need an alarm clock on your desk – please.
I will prove my point though.
An alarm clock is a perfect tool to keep the track of time. Say you set it to ring every 45 minutes. That means that every 45 minutes you are going to have a reminder to stand up, walk around a bit, drink water and let your eyes rest. You are also going to be able to track reports, news and your broker agent calls.
Don’t you want to be in charge of your own time?
4. Printed trading strategies.
If you are one of the traders who prefer using several trading strategies at a time, then I can guarantee that for the first couple of months your head is going to spin. It is better to print out the bullet points of the strategies and follow them rather than waste your time and look for them on the internet every time you need to confirm something.
5. Earphones.
Doing anything with music is easier and it makes time go by faster. That is why it is better to have earplugs which are going to help you close up from the rest of the world and trade away. Especially if you have a prefect playlist selected.
Of course these are the things which I personally prefer having in my trading and working space. You are welcome to add whatever you deem necessary.
