Qihoo 360 researchers have discovered a new botnet ADB. miner that attacks Android devices in order to mine Monero crypto.
Around 7500 devices are affected by the bot to this day.
The first devices fell victim to the bot on February 3. According to the same researches, the bot is using Mirai botnet code components. This bot became famous for the hackers’ attacks aimed at the big web resources in 2016.
Botnet is looking for the open debugging ports, such as 5555 ports, which gives one access to the key Android functions and information. By getting into those files, the robot makes it mine Monero.
ADB. miner has mostly attacked the users from Asia – South Korea and China – 30 and 40 percent respectively. The main difficulty is that the quantity of the bot’s victims is doubling every 12 hours – this is a sign of how big it really is.
