Financial Times have reported that Great Britain is starting informal negotiation about joining the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade block after it will have left the European Union. This way British government is hoping to give some additional boost to national economy after the multiple hits it will probably take while and after Brexit.
A year ago, there were talks about USA joining the TPP, but after Mr. Trump came to the office these talks stopped. But GB won’t be left face to face with Asian countries to compete. The list of TPP members is various: Japan, New Zealand, Canada, Mexico, Vietnam and others, so there is no geographical prevention for the British to join the Partnership.
But why not join now? The problem is that EU prohibits GB to enter the block until the deal is done and the exit is complete. Financial Times quote one of the officials, who said, that for now the talks of Britain’s joining TPP is way too premature.
